Inclement Weather

Make-up lessons
All make-up lessons will be held at Mosaic Vocal studio in Rockwood. There will be one Saturday per 3/months which is for make up lessons. It is suggested that you sign up early for these lessons even if you aren’t behind as there will always be interruptions, sickness, etc. If you sign up for a make-up lesson and don’t end up missing a lesson later in the season it will count towards your regular attendance. Makeup lessons that are scheduled but not attended will be counted as an absence and will be forfeited.
Music Books and Supplies
Students/Parents are responsible for purchasing music books and supplies. If you wish to have a list of suggested books please request this during a lesson. I will happily purchase books and supplies for you on my visits to Toronto bookstores. If you wish me to do so, please give me two weeks advance notice.
Students are expected to bring a note-book, and all music books or binders to each lesson. It is NOT the teacher’s responsibility to provide copies of music at students’ lessons. Copies for the teacher are appreciated. Taping lessons is allowed.
Exams and Music Festivals
Students require teacher permission to enter examinations, festivals or auditions.
The teacher will discuss the deadlines for entering examinations and festivals with students but it is the student and parent’s responsibility to acquire forms and sign up for these by the deadlines.

Kiwanis Music Festival
During the Kiwanis Music Festival in April 2020, the teacher will be attending student performances. For students participating in the festival the teacher’s attendance at the festival constitutes the student’s lesson for that week. Students not participating in the festival will maintain a lesson that week; however this may need to be rescheduled to accommodate the teacher’s attendance at Kiwanis classes.
Recital
There will be two recitals held in late January and early June. (Exact date and location will follow). Volunteers to help set up and take down are appreciated. There is no cost to enter the recital. Accompaniment is extra. Please be prepared to pay the accompanist on the day of the recital.
Performance and Rehearsal Etiquette If the student is enrolled in a competition, performance or recital, an accompanist is required. The teacher may play for some students but this is not the usual. Required etiquette follows;
1) Provide accompanist with a clean, bright copy or scan of the music, making sure all of the PIANO notes are on the page. (ipad photos are not acceptable) imslp.org is a good resource for public domain music.
2) Make sure the music is in the accompanists hands WELL before rehearsal and performance time. (3-4 weeks for Kiwanis, 2 weeks for recital)
3) Contact the accompanist in a timely manner via email or phone. If you contact them and don’t hear back within a few days, try again or contact Marion.
4) Pay the accompanist directly for their services in a TIMELY manner.
5) Arrive to any rehearsals ON TIME, WARMED UP and with a copy of music for yourself as well as a pencil to take notes. IT IS A WASTE OF THE ACCOMPANISTS AND YOUR TIME AND MONEY TO SHOW UP TO REHEARSAL WITHOUT WARMING UP.
